about

I always cut&paste, slice&dice Ari's (and others') parts. She never has to re-record because it's all good the first time. ♥️

"Timeless" is the exception. The little violin introduction - its hesitancy, its delicacy - is one of my favorite parts. Ari LOVED the finished track when I played it for her, but she heard something in the pitch that wasn't quite right on that intro part. So she re-recorded it. Because it was my fave part, I kept having her re-record that little snippet until she had all the nuances exactly down - a note-for-note take!

But her playing was now all from her "head", not her heart, because she'd been focusing so hard. I asked her to do it one more time, but this time to play from her usual place, her heart, her soul. She nodded, paused, took some breaths, and said "hit record!". I did. And she nailed it: all the beauty and delicacy and heart-centeredness were present. Done! I was so happy!!

I try not to listen to my tracks once they're finished. I hear 'em a LOT while I'm working on them - maybe 100 times. But if I wait long enough I'm often surprised the way a new listener is. That just happened. I listened to "Timeless" before I offered it publicly. Wow.

Three things happened:
(1) Tears filled my eyes. I'm truly shocked that Spirit has led me to this space/time, humbled that I am involved with such heart-centered sonic beauty.
(2) I found myself praying while listening, not with words, but feeling The Presence of Spirit. I was in the zone. I went to church.
(3) My embrace of prayer inspired me to add the subtitle "A Prayer For All Beings" for that's surely what this musical-prayer felt like.

btw: When Ari Urban and I first played together, MAGIC happened. I'll never forget that day at my Chapel Of Sacred Sounds. We both agree, it was SO easy and natural and amazingly beautiful! I was stunned. We simply *became music*. Both of us, separately and together. We flowed, the music flowed, healing flowed, Spirit flowed.

Ari and her violin quickly became my Musical Muse. "Timeless" is the 2nd finished track featuring her. There are more finished tracks, with many more to come. Some are up-tempo, all touch the soul.

At Rosehill Cemetery's Horatio May Chapel we played before an audience for the first time. This was my gong event, so altho Ari didn't have a lot of "stage" time, she spun magic and found the inspiration to take on a Higher-Power role in her life. (She stepped up to lead our Burning Bowl Ceremony a few days later.) I was in awe of what we were creating, of the musical-vibes swirling in that glorious chapel. So we got to recording, and the results are just being shared now.
